Google Ad Extension and It’s Types

Google Ad extensions are essentially the physical expansions of your ads that provides new and relevant information to the viewers. This can be static information that does not change such as telephone numbers, links to your website and many more.



Why you need to create the Google Ad Extensions?


Google Ad extension will help your ad campaigns in two ways, from the user’s perspective view –


. Google Ad Extension increases the physical real estate of your ad, which helps the demand user attention and can also boost the visibility of your business ad campaign.

. Google Ad Extension provides more information and context that might be valuable to the users.



Types of Google Ad Extensions


If you are running the Google Ad Extension, you should be using Google Ad Extensions for the two reasons i.e. they are free and they give the users additional information so as to interact with your ad. These Google Ad Extensions are classified as –


. Site Link Extension –


Site Link Extension allow the advertiser to display the short list of links to internal pages of their business website that customers might find useful directly in their business ads. These Site Link Extension are a great way so as to provide additional value to your advertising efforts. In order to add the Site Link Extension we have to follow these steps –


. Select the campaign in which you want to add the site link extension. Now click on the Ad Extension tab so as to select the Site Link Extension from the view drop down menu.

. In order to create the new Site Links click on the + New Site Link button. You will now need to set up a link headline and the destination URL.

. Create two to six Site Link Extension for each ad campaign.


. Callout Extension –


Callout Extension are a way to promote the unique offers or additional benefits of your product or business. Callout Extension are essentially used to create the engaging CTAs that are designed to motivate the users to take specific actions. Callout Extension cover a wide variety of offers, whether it be an evergreen selling point (i.e. Quality Service) or a monetary offer (i.e. Free Shipping). Callout Extension are the easiest way to quickly and clearly show more value in your business ad while also taking up more real estate on the SERP. In order to add the Callout Extension we have to follow these steps –


. Select the campaign in which you want to add the callout extension. Now click on the Ad Extension tab.

. Now select the Callout Extension from the View drop down menu.

. Add the Callout Extension to either the account or a specific campaign. You can add as many as you want, but each callout extension need to have 25 characters or less.


. Location Extension –


Location extension allow you to list your business address in your ads. There are the couple of different ways you can get your address to show. For example – if you have a Google My Business account, you can link that up so that your ads will pull information directly from there. If you do not have a business account, you can manually add the new addresses. In order to add the Location Extension we have to follow these steps –


. Select the Location from the View drop-down menu. If you have the Google My Business account you can link your account to the ad campaign by clicking on the addresses and selecting the correct account.

. If you do not have the Google My Business account you can select manually Entered Addresses option and + New Extension. From this option, you can enter your business information and apply it to all of your ads campaigns.



. Call Extension –


Call Extension are a great resource if your business relies on the phone calls for business leads. You can optimize these call extensions by scheduling the time of the day you want to run them. In order to add the Callout Extension we have to follow these steps –


. Select the campaign in which you want to add the callout extension. Now click on the Ad Extension tab.

. Now select the Call Extension from the View drop down menu from the Ad Extension tab and enter your business phone number.

. There is one of the more key feature within the call extensions that we recommend setting up i.e. Google forwarding phone numbers. This is one of the unique feature provided by Google that allows you to track the phone calls that come from the Google Ads.
